Petey

Description:

Petey has been serving as the cook for Jorvan Pierce for quite some time now. When he was younger the man served under High Inquisitor Maraxus as an acolyte and was a renowned swordsman. Fearless in battle, Petey always lead the charge favoring close combat. His peers would commonly hear him shouting, “The fight hasn’t started until I see the whites of their eyes!” Eventually Petey’s recklessness lead to his defeat. At the hands of a daemon, Petey was powerless. Against any man he would have the chance to best him, but Petey soon found out that their are powers far greater than the sword. As the daemon was licking its lips in anticipation of Petey’s death Jorvan Pierce arrived and slayed the daemon. When Petey came to, he was in the sick bay aboard Jorvan Pierce’s ship en route to meet up with Maraxus. Petey could tell by the bandages on his leg that he would never again be able to dance with his sword in combat. Since fighting was all he knew Petey wondered what was to become of him. Struggling to get his mind off the subject he tried to find a book by the sick bay bed. He didn’t find anything of interest until his eyes caught the title of a book called, “Slice and Dice: Using Your Blade Correctly.” More interested in that book than any other he began reading. To Petey’s dismay the blades in the book were knives, but he read on through the first two chapters which highlighted the importance of keeping the blade sharp and techniques to keep it clean. Nostalgic for the days when he would spend hours cleaning and sharpening his blade Petey continued to read engrossed by the novel. However, the next chapter caught Petey by surprise as it explained to him how to correctly dice an onion. He laughed at his foolishness for reading a cooking book and closed the novel. Curious to know who would write such a novel Petey opened the book to the very first page. The man’s name was Arlen Segdwick and underneath his name there was a quote. “When a man wields a blade he has a purpose.” Petey stared at the quote for a second and then shook his head. “Well if I can’t wield a sword, then I guess I knife will do.”
